Pattern - Colour Pop Coaster Pot

Remember my Colour Pop Coasters? Well my parents bought me some yarn to make some bunting for them, but it wasn't quite the right shade. As they said I may as well keep it, I thought I would make them something with it. It was the same yarn I used for the the Colour Pop Coasters, so I made them a set of those along with a pot to keep them in.

So I thought I would share the pattern for the pot here! This will store six of the Colour Pop Coasters, and you can find the pattern for them here

Pattern in UK Terminology

Hook - 5mm

Yarn
Cotton Aran in whatever colours you wish to use.

I used Lily Sugar 'n Cream in:-

Yarn A - Solids in Pretty in Pink
Yarn B - Ombres in Psychedelic Ombre

For the Coasters I used Solids Pretty in Pink, Sunshine and Hot Purple with the Ombre Psychedelic for the edging.

There are some gorgeous ombre shades in the range you could have a lot of fun making different colour palettes!

Measurements
The coaster pot measures 11cm (4.5in) across and 5cm (2in) tall

Special Stitches
This pattern uses the Reverse DC stitch which is also know as the Crab Stitch. I find this gives a nice finish to edges but of course if you prefer you could always work another dc round or sl st around. The stitch is worked as followed..
Reverse dc - Insert the hook, from front to back, in the next stitch to the right, yrh and draw the yarn through the stitch, yrh and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook

Pattern Notes
Unless specified you will always work into the next st. For example if the pattern says 3dc, it means 1dc in each of the next 3 sts. To work 3dc in one st, it would state (e.g) 3dc in next st.

The next yarn colour will always be joined into the last stitch worked.

Lets go..

Pattern - Granny Day Bunting

To celebrate Granny Square Day 2021 on 15th August, I have whipped up this string of bunting and would love to share the pattern with you!

Put it up in celebration of all things granny and crochet! It is also a fab stash buster project!

Pattern in UK Terminology

Hook - 3.5mm

Yarn
Cotton DK in whatever colours you wish to use.

I used a mixture of Rico Creative Cotton and Rico Ricorumi in Yellow, Red, Mint, Yellow, Pink, Turquoise and White

Measurements
The granny motifs measure 6cm (2.5in) across and 7cm (3in) long without tassels and 14cm (5.5in) with tassels

Lets go..

GRANNY MOTIFS
With any colour and a 3.5mm hook, make a magic loop and work into the loop

Round 1 - Ch3 (counts a st throughout pattern), 2 tr, *ch2, 3 tr, repeat from * twice more, ch2, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3. [12 sts, 4 ch-2 sps]

Fasten off and join any colour in any ch-2 sp

Round 2 - (Ch3, 2 tr, *ch2, 3 tr) in same ch-2 sp, *(3 tr, ch2, 3 tr) in next ch-2 sp, repeat from * twice more, join with a sl st in top of beg ch3. [24 sts, 4 ch-2 sps]

Fasten off and join any colour in any ch-2 sp

Round 3 - (Ch3, 2 tr, ch2, 3 tr) in same ch-2 sp, *skip 3 sts, 3 tr in next sp between sts, skip 3 sts, (3 tr, ch2, 3 tr) in next ch-2 sp, repeat from * twice more, skip 3 sts, 3 tr in next sp between sts, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3. [36 sts, 4 ch-2 sps]

Fasten off and join any colour in top of any tr st before any ch-2 corner sp from the last round

Round 4 - Ch1 (does not count as st), *(1 dc, ch2, 1 dc) in ch-2 sp, 1 dc in each of next 9 sts, repeat from * 3 more times, join with ss in top of first dc. [44 sts]

(the next part is worked on one side only)

Row 1 - Ss into next ch-2 sp, ch1, (working into each of the next sts) 1 dc, 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 tr, 1 tr, 1 dtr, 1 tr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 dc, ss into ch-2 corner sp. [11 sts]

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Make as many as required.

TASSELS

Tassels are made using 12 lengths of yarn, 12cm (5in) long. Fold the lengths in half and then tie a matching piece of yarn around 1cm away from the folded end.

Thread a matching piece of yarn through the top folded part of the tassel and tie together. Use the tails to join to the dtr st worked on Row 5 with a knot.

Trim to neaten

Top Tip - keep the tails of the joining yarns long and then you can just thread the ends into the tassel so no need to weave and secure.

MAKING UP

With chosen colour (I used Red), ch30, join to each motif by working dc sts along the top edge, working 1 dc into each st and ch-sp. Ch10 between each motif and finish with ch30 at the end
